Our office will hold a roundtable discussion, co-organized with iProA and ISACA, regarding the review of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Details are as follow: Roundtable on the legislative proposals arising from the review of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance - impact on the IT industryOn 18 October 2010, the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau (CMAB) published the "Report on Public Consultation on Review of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance" ("Report"), outlining 37 major and miscellaneous amendment proposals to be taken forward, and also covers those that are not to be pursued. Primarily the proposals serve to increase the control and penalties to afford greater protection to personal data privacy, and new provisions have been proposed to make unauthorised sale of personal data an offence. The Roundtable aims at assessing the impact of the proposed amendments with regard to the IT industry. In particular, where the Internet and Web 2.0 come into play, the relationship between privacy and freedom of information is never an easy subject with straight forward answer. Speakers and participants will also examine the current and emerging challenges to privacy and the solutions that are developing to meet them. Co-organizations: iProA Speakers: Dr. Hon. Samson TAM Wai-ho, JP, Legislative Councilor (ITFC) Facilitator: Ms Shirley Ha, Council Member, iProA
